History

Papillons originates from Bologna. This breed of dog was originally known as the dwarf spaniel in Spain. Most of these dogs have been sent to royal courts across Europe. So such a dog first traveled to Poland in 1545 and later to France with King Louis and Maria Antoinette.

The first shape of this dog was with hanging ears, and today’s variant with raised ears was obtained in France, probably after it was tied to the chihuahua. This dog breed is commonly well known as “Papillon” which means butterfly. They are so named because the image resembles a butterfly, ie the white line of the member represents the butterfly’s body, and the raised and spread ears with a scarecrow represent the wings of the butterfly.
